Words Whispered in the Rain

I've been feeling completely and utterly uninspired lately,

And so, unable to come up with anything to say to all of you wonderful people,

I'll just share what's spoken to my heart in the last two days.

This one I thought of yesderday,

Considering we've been watching the Olympics all week.

It's one of my all-time favorites.

2 Timothy 4:1-8

New Living Translation (NLT)
I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.
But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.

And this one

That just blew me away when I read it this morning,

Right there on the bookmark,

The planned reading for today,

And everything I needed to hear -

Everything I wanted to say:

Psalm 38

English Standard Version (ESV)

Do Not Forsake Me, O Lord

A Psalm of David, for the memorial offering.

38 O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger,
    nor discipline me in your wrath!
For your arrows have sunk into me,
    and your hand has come down on me.
There is no soundness in my flesh
    because of your indignation;
there is no health in my bones
    because of my sin.
For my iniquities have gone over my head;
    like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.
My wounds stink and fester
    because of my foolishness,
I am utterly bowed down and prostrate;
    all the day I go about mourning.
For my sides are filled with burning,
    and there is no soundness in my flesh.
I am feeble and crushed;
    I groan because of the tumult of my heart.
O Lord, all my longing is before you;
    my sighing is not hidden from you.
10 My heart throbs; my strength fails me,
    and the light of my eyes—it also has gone from me.
11 My friends and companions stand aloof from my plague,
    and my nearest kin stand far off.
12 Those who seek my life lay their snares;
    those who seek my hurt speak of ruin
    and meditate treachery all day long.
13 But I am like a deaf man; I do not hear,
    like a mute man who does not open his mouth.
14 I have become like a man who does not hear,
    and in whose mouth are no rebukes.
15 But for you, O Lord, do I wait;
    it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.
16 For I said, “Only let them not rejoice over me,
    who boast against me when my foot slips!”
17 For I am ready to fall,
    and my pain is ever before me.
18 I confess my iniquity;
    I am sorry for my sin.
19 But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty,
    and many are those who hate me wrongfully.
20 Those who render me evil for good
     accuse me because I follow after good.
21 Do not forsake me, O Lord!
    O my God, be not far from me!
22  Make haste to help me,
    O Lord, my salvation!

Good words whispered in the rain. Thank you for sharing them. He so often gives us just what we need, just when we need it!

Great and powerful reasons, these!

(I wrote another comment, but don't know if it went through.)

Hello, Sylvia!

Yes, I got both of them.

They were lovely. Praise God for telling me all the things I need to hear, over and over again! Yes, just what we need . . . reminds me of your post the other day.

Thank you! It is so wonderful to find these, though I've been getting forgetful lately. I so enjoy reading yours, too. Thank you for counting with me, friend!

Have a wonderful week! God bless!
