"No matter where I am, your teachings fill me with songs." - Psalm 119:54 (CEV)

About

About Me:
Hi! My name is Mary Schieferstein. I am an extremely busy (or, during the summer, moderately busy) student and daughter who spends her spare time writing music and wrestling with "why it matters".

About This Blog:
I mostly started this blog to help my friends keep track of my progress in recording and publishing my first EP:  Pour:  Songs of Rain and Rivers.  In general, I thought that this would be a good place to journal about what was happening, both in my music and in my life, and keep others up-to-date.  As I struggle with balancing everything currently going on in my life, I also struggle to create an upside-down blog, focusing not on me and how many people pay attention to my words, but on serving Him whether anyone else notices or not.

About My Music:
When I was little, I used to write music, but I ended up quitting because I decided that my songs weren't any good.  Many years later, I began writing again, and this time I couldn't stop.  Although my songs still aren't that good (in my opinion), people seem to like them a lot, and even I can tell that I'm improving.  I don't know where my music is going yet, I'm trusting God to either answer that question or get me there in some other way in His perfect timing.  For the moment, however, I find that recording a CD or an EP makes a good summer project.

For more about my music, read posts with the labels "History of My Music" and "My Music".
To read some of my lyrics, view posts with the label "Lyrics".  (Some posts will have full lyrics, some may have only a few lines.)

About Copyrights (As Pertaining to This Blog):
In case you haven't noticed yet, I tend to use the word "copyrighted" at the end of any posts containing my lyrics or music. This is because I pour my heart and soul, the joys and the aches, into the words that I spend so much time carefully weaving together. (Which is not to say that everything I write is good, simply that it means a lot to me.) These words and melodies are a part of me, and I do not want anyone to claim my work as his or her own. If you would like to quote any of the words (including lyrics) in this blog, or use any of the pictures, please feel free to do so provided that you state "quote/lyrics/photo/(etc.) by Mary Schieferstein" (or something similar). If you would also like to mention that, as the original author (or photographer, particularly for photos which show the lyrics to my music or sheet music), I own the copyright for the material you used, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for being considerate.
