The Color Green

I don't know why it is that some days are okay

And some are even wonderful

While some are just filled with struggle,

Me struggling still with the things I struggle with most.

I try to fill my head with other things,

Listen to Beth Moore talking about the mind as a sermon to start my day

And work while I listen to Rich Mullins' songs,

But the moments spent without those influences,

The moments where other influences have their chance -

Well, some days are okay,

Some are even wonderful,

But some days those moments get to me

And take root in my heart

And all the apathy and negative thoughts

Are back as though they'd never left,

And I know it's possible to be free,

But I can't seem to figure out how,

And I can't deny that I have conflicting desires.

I can't deny that I don't want what I should as much as I ought.

And it's a day when all those influences could easily be at their worst,

Long hours doing nothing,

Waiting,

In anticipation,

Me struggling,

Fighting,

Faltering,

Falling,

When the song stuck in my head for the past few days makes its appearance

And my heart is drawn to praise

For the blue of the sky

And the color green,

And the rocks that are crying out along with it.

Still seeking to know Him,

For Him and His Glory to be foremost in my mind

And draw me to praise:

  4. His people's help comes from Him who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2)
  5. He will not let His people's foot be moved (Psalm 121:3)
  6. He keeps His people (Psalm 121:3)
  7. He who keeps His people will not slumber (Psalm 121:3)
  8. He who keeps His people will not sleep (Psalm 121:4)
  9. He who keeps His people will neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:4)
  10. He is His people's Keeper (Psalm 121:5)

Beautiful, Mary! Love your new blog look here. So bright and pretty and uplifting. Yes, I am trying to take all those negative thoughts captive and lift up the praise! :)

He lets us see our weakness, our inability in ourselves, doesn't He? So we won't depend on ourselves, but reach up to Him, call out...

Of late, each week, Monday has been my day of struggle, though I can't determine why, can only muddle through, calling on Him.

But today's Monday, isn't it? And you have made it glorious by including this Rich Mullins piece. After last night watching "The Privileged Planet," just awe-struck by its revelations and filled with praise for His creation and how He shows us about Himself through it, waking this morning to this gave me more praise and joy than I can contain! Thank you!

(BTW, *love* Rich Mullins' poetry/music, and love that psalm, too,
so meaningful to me. Yep, that is where our help comes from. A blessed week to you, Mary, struggle or no. :) )

Thank you, Pam! It sure wasn't easy to get Blogger to cooperate with me. I'm glad that it uplifts you!

Oh, me, too. Me, too!

So good to "see" you again, friend!

Hello, Sylvia! It's good to hear from you again!

Yes, that He does. I've been struggling with that a lot lately, every day, but today has been very good in that respect so far. I am so blessed!

I'm glad it helped you to praise! It certainly did for me. I know we always need things like that, struggle or no.

(Me, too! I'm just now listening to all of his albums - I'd only ever heard his first greatest hits CD and the album released after his death. I keep wondering why I didn't do this sooner! A Liturgy, A Legacy, and A Ragamuffin Band is definitely my favorite so far - especially the first and third tracks!!! A blessed week to you, as well, friend!)
